YG Entertainment will be taking legal action against those who leaked BLACKPINK star Jennie’s personal photos online, the company announced.

In a statement issued to the Korean press on October 3, BLACKPINK’s agency announced they are working with the authorities to investigate those responsible for sharing Jennie Kim’s “personal photos”.

YG Entertainment did not specify what the images entailed. But fans speculate they are related to dating rumors after alleged pictures appeared on Twitter. However, the photos have never been authenticated or confirmed by the star.

After weeks of rumors over leaked images, the entertainment company has responded to concerned fans asking for appropriation action.

Korean platform Naver published the full statement: “We are announcing that we have officially commissioned the police to investigate the person who first distributed BLACKPINK Jennie’s personal photos. YG has been continuously monitoring the content and submitted a complaint in September after collecting information.

“In order to minimize further damage, YG has refrained from commenting and expressing its position. However, as rumors, criticism, personal attacks, sexual harassment, and invasion of privacy triggered by personal photos have been made indiscriminately, I feel a sense of responsibility that is hard to ignore. We would like to disclose the fact of taking legal action and correct the situation.”

Fans asked to refrain from ‘reckless sharing

It continues: “YG is taking strong legal action against posts that damage the personality and honor of its artists.”

The company further added: “We will take all legal action without any leniency for any additional damage that may occur in the future. Photos circulated online are illegally disclosed regardless of your will. Sharing this is a secondary offense and may be subject to legal punishment.

“We earnestly ask you to refrain from reckless sharing.

“YG Entertainment will continue to strive to protect the rights and interests of its artists. Thank you.”

Jennie and V – real name Kim Tae-hyung – have been subject to tabloid coverage since December 2021. It was after the BTS singer followed the Chanel ambassador on Instagram.

The boy group member later admitted it was unintentional. He even asked Weverse fans: “Is there a way to get rid of the ‘recommended’ friends list here on this Insta thing?…. It’s a scary app.”

The first image of the alleged couple surfaced in May 2022. A Korean fashion news account posted a zoomed image of Jennie and V allegedly in a car together. Both stars were wearing sunglasses, so their identities could not be confirmed. Its legitimacy was also questioned by fans.

A Twitter user known as Gurumi Haribo is said to be the account leaking personal photos of Jennie since August. The first post was an alleged full-length mirror selfie of the singers. Although, loyal supporters were sure it was a composite image.

At least six images have been uploaded, prompting theories that Big Hit’s statement on September 29 was directed at Gurumi Haribo. The hacker, however, later claimed that they did not receive any legal notice from anyone, reports photos-says-big-hit-music-still-hasnt-denied-the-dating-rumors”>AllKpop.
